cambar chickens were created by cross breeding the gold campine and barred plymouth rock with the intention of using what is known as the barring gene.this is taken from the barrd rock hen,this gene will be passed to the cockerell from the breeding mentioned above (gold campine cock x barred rock hen).

The offspring from this cross were either barred cockerells or bLACK hens.since it is the barring gene that we are trying to pass on we only requier the barred cockerells for the next part of thie geneti c reciepe.  

in this picture we have the  F1 offspring 

 (1st generation) barred cockerells.

The smaller hens with the orange heads are the gold campine hens that were bred with the F1 cockerels.these hens will again pass the barring gene to the F2 offspring.
